Valentines Orders for 2013

I never did a post on the Valentines orders I finished last year, so I thought I’d do a quick one, in case anyone is looking for some more inspiration.
I did matching sister dresses from the Whimsy Couture Ruffled Neckline Dress Pattern. It’s one of my favorites. (If you’re interested in your own but don’t want to make it, let me know!!! Find my shop HERE).
(Sorry that all these pictures will have 2 watermarks. Whoopsie.)

Bows and a hairclip too. The lighting is so much better in these.

I also did some boys shirts for 2 sets of brothers. They’re done with freezer paper stenciling and appliqués. (Again, if you are interested in a custom order of them, let me know!!!)

The last outfit I did was a shirt with a heart appliqué done with rows of lace and a shirred waisted skirt made from this pattern.

I think I probably need to make a tutorial for that shirt. Isn’t it fun?

Iris Wrap Dress

I recently ordered 5 new patterns from Sew Sweet Patterns. Their patterns are so cute, and I really had a hard time picking just 5. I’ll definitely be back for more.
The first one I’ve tried is the Iris Wrap Dress:

Isn’t it cute? I wish I could have gotten a better picture, but Maycie has been grumpy and sick with a cold and we were running around all day yesterday, so this was as good as it got. Oh! And it’s reversible! It has a super cute yellow floral on the other side. Hopefully I can get a decent picture of it. Sometime. Ha!
Thanks so much for reading!!!

Girly Valentine Goodies

I love Valentine’s Day and I have been having so much fun getting ready for it this year. I have a couple fun decor items to show you, but this post is going to be about all the girly goodies I’ve been working on! I got a Silhouette Cameo for Christmas (Woohoo! Dustin is awesome!) and I finally got the courage to show it who is the boss. I’ve totally been scared of it! Wimp, I know.
This is Maycie’s Valentine’s shirt:

I used my Silhouette to cut out the iron-on vinyl and ironed it right on. I love it and Dustin does too. :) He calls Maycie his little sweetie all the time, so I thought this was fitting.
A couple weeks ago, I was asked to make some matching Valentine’s dresses for some cute girlies. Their mom is great and just lets me run with the ideas in my head. Here is one of the dresses:

I LOVE this fabric! It was exactly what I had in mind and I love how the dresses turned out. Big sister’s dress is the very same, I just don’t have a picture of it.
Of course, they need new bows to match their new dresses:

Those mini-korkers are my favorite bows right now. Love them! Their so tiny and dainty and are absolutely adorable with pigtails. Big sister’s bows are obviously bigger. The darker pink ribbon has some shimmer to it that you can almost see in the picture. I don’t usually make bows this big, but I don’t complain when someone requests one. Bigger is better, right?
I’ve also made up a couple more shirts for Valentine’s and a big stack of bows for my Etsy shop (You can see some of the bows here on Max & Maycie’s facebook page). The bows aren't listed in my shop yet, but the shirts are!

I have so many more ideas in my head. I’ve got my fingers crossed that I can find time to finish a few more before Valentine’s Day.

Thanks so much for reading!

Maycie's car seat

After we found out our baby was a girl last October, I immediately started scoping out all the pink stuff I could find. I love pink. I don't wear a lot of pink, but after living with 2 boys for a few years, all pink and girly became much more appealing. Dustin and I talked about buying a new car seat for this baby, even though we had bought Jayden's thinking we could use it for a girl if we ever needed to. But it just wasn't girly. And I needed girly.

The more I looked at car seats, the less I liked the girly ones. They were so...PINK! Like mushy pink. I like pink. I love pink. But these car seats were too pink. So, I decided I would make a new cover for the car seat we already had.

It took me a while, but I finally found the perfect fabric. It's called Plain Jane by Michael Miller. I picked the aqua and red, and also got some polka dots in the same colors. I've made a canopy for it too, but I don't have any pictures of it.

What do you think? I love it. Much more than I loved any of the pink. I love the colors and that it's girly, but not so girly it would make you puke. That cute baby just makes it even cuter I think.
