Skulls and Cross"bow"nes

(How thrilled do they look in this picture?!!?!)

Jayden and Maycie have both outgrown almost all of their clothes. At the same time. Go figure. I really shouldn't complain about having to get them new clothes, since Jayden has been wearing 18-24 months sizes and Maycie has still been wearing Newborn and 0-3. At 2 1/2 and 6 months, I guess it's acceptable for them to grow a bit.

I got a bunch of shirts at the Dollar Tree recently (T-shirts for a buck? Yes, please.). They had a couple in Jayden's size, so I've been searching my little brain for ways to spice them up. And then, somewhere in a cob-webby corner of my mind, I found it. The great idea I'd been looking for. And then I remembered this post from Crap I've Made. And I felt dumb, cuz I'd had such a great idea and thought it was original. Obviously not original, but very cute. Great minds think alike, right? Right?

Since our kitchen fixes have put a cramp in my craftynesses, I moved the hammer and drill and got to work.

I did do mine a little differently. I sprayed the bleach on lightly so it stayed kinda spotty. And I loved how it turned out:

I couldn't leave Maycie out on this fun, so she got one too. Girly-fied.

With bum ruffles. Not my best ruffles, but I'm not selling it, so I didn't really care. I used brown thread!!! Lazy.

(Ignore my bad pictures. The light in my house is awful for pictures and it's been stormy for days so there isn't even any sunlight to steal!)

See this nasty thing? Attempt #1. FAIL.

I think we like them :)

And no, we don't wear pants in this house, in case you were wondering.

  3. I totally get the no pants thing with three in diapers (2,2, and 10mo) putting paints on takes way too much time!!! My little guy is crazy for pirates he would flip for this. Where did you get the skull and crossbones? did you use freezer paper?

  4. Thanks so much for the comments! :) I used the skull and crossbones template from Crap I've Made. You can find it here:

I used freezer paper and then sprayed bleach on it. I only used about 3 half-sprays of bleach, just enough to get it spotty. My little boy calls this his pirate shirt. :)
